HISWKE!

Many thanks to all who attended and supported the event on August 25, 2012 at SṈIDȻEȽ. It was a wonderful time with eelgrass being prepared for transplanting, traditional knowledge sharing, the delicious smell of salmon barbeque and of course the unveiling of the new sign for SṈIDȻEȽ, the Place of the Blue Grouse, featuring the artwork of local artist PENAWEN (Pena Elliot). Charles Elliot and John Elliot of Tsartlip First Nation spoke at the unveiling and shared the WSANEC history of SṈIDȻEȽ. This special place is beloved by so many people past and present, and remains a sacred area to this day.

A huge kudos to Sarah Verstegen, who spent over a year coordinating and communicating with BC Parks and Tsartlip First Nation to ensure the job was done well. The day was inspiring and fulfilling, ending with the transplant of prepared eelgrass into the waters of the inlet. Again, HISWKE! Thank you so much for your participation and support!
