Greetings SeaChangers! In solidarity with Fish Farms Out Now we are inviting you to a Circle at the Legislature, Thursday November 2nd.
This is an invitation to all nations; to water protectors and salmon defenders, indigenous and non-indigenous alike, to join us on Thursday, November 2nd from 11:00AM-1:00PM on the lawn of the Legislature. We invite you to join the circle and share in ceremony, speech and song and help carry the message brought here by representatives of Kwakwaka’wakw nations: FISH FARMS OUT NOW!
On behalf of Fish Farms Out Now!, an ad-hoc group of concerned community members,we respectfully request whatever forms of support you are able to provide. This could include attending the action on the 2nd, sharing details of the event with your friends, family, and extended networks, and contributing funds to help cover travel and event-related expenses. Please see our Fundrazr page here if you would like to make a donation.
This event is the result of a grassroots mobilization of people in support of indigenous resurgence, the survival of wild salmon, and the long work towards decolonization. For more information on the fish farm occupations, and the ongoing crisis in salmon returns, visit the following links:
<<This event is taking place on Lekwungen Territory. We acknowledge the many ways in which the Lekwungen’s relationship to salmon has been impacted through colonialism, from the cruise ship industry, to the Department of National Defense, tanker traffic, and beyond.>>
