You are invited to an upcoming opportunity to gather together across the US-Canada border on Coast and Straits Salish territories for shared learning. These events are designed to bring together educators who work in a variety of settings in different parts of the Salish Sea region.

  • Hosts: Galiano Conservancy, in collaboration with Community Engagement Fellows, University of the Puget Sound, Whatcom Community College, WhiteSwan Environmental, WWU Center for Canadian-American Studies, and WWU Salish Sea Institute
  • When? Saturday, May 4 – Sunday, May 5
  • Where? Galiano Conservancy‘s Millard Learning Centre, with other locations included
  • Who’s Invited? The retreat is intended for educators and community leaders who work in a variety of settings in different parts of the Salish Sea Region. People working in government, school districts, higher education, and non-governmental organizations, and seeking to make ecoregional connections are welcome to attend.
  • Cost? There is no registration fee. Dinner on Saturday night and breakfast and lunch on Sunday will be provided. Complimentary camping accommodations are available for Saturday, May 4th. Participants are responsible for other meals and travel costs.
  • Goal: to advance learning partnerships in the Salish Sea Region across organizations, sectors, and political, cultural, and geographic boundaries.
  • Format: Together we will engage in an active social learning space that allows participants to build relationships and gain knowledge about each other’s work, and find opportunities for collaboration. Activities will include paired conversations, design clinics (click here for a description), and other energizing group activities. Refreshments provided.
